Bronco Sport and Escape Recalls Due to Fuel Injector Cracks
More than 42,000 Bronco Sport (2022-2023) and Escape (2022) SUVs equipped with 1.5L engines are being recalled due to possible cracks in the fuel injectors, potentially leading to fuel leaks in the engine compartment. This creates a fire risk if ignition sources like hot engine or exhaust components are present. Dealers will update the engine control software and install a drain tube free of charge, with notification letters expected this month.
Connection to Prior Recall
This new recall follows a similar one from November 2022, which affected over 518,000 vehicles. Some models received new injectors but didn't receive the software update, which was deemed unnecessary due to the new injectors' robustness. However, Ford now recognizes that certain models still require the software update for accurate fuel injector leak detection and enhanced safety.
Ford's Warranty Extension
